As an addendum to the first “Dialectology” post, in which I mentioned that the final s is often dropped by my students, as it is in some regional dialects of Spanish:
I just noticed, though I’ve heard it probably hundreds of times, that my students almost always pronounce I.S.S. (In-School Suspension) as eye ess ehh.
